The longer you dodge the hard work, the heavier it gets. Closing integrity gaps is one of the toughest leadership challenges for anyone striving to become Built to Lead. It’s just so much easier to punt the hard stuff for another day.
Problem is, today is “another day”, tomorrow too, and so will the rest of this week, month, and year. Take a moment to think—how long have you been telling yourself you want to stop or change a certain behavior, reaction, habit, or trigger? For many, this inner dialogue has been a pattern for years, and will continue unless you put a stake in the ground and decide to “burn the boat” and do something about it.
Hopefully you have a builder or at least a truth teller who can help you discover the root cause behind why you choose to ignore, cover up, or do whatever it is to cope. Trying to close your gaps alone, especially the hardest ones, is an uphill battle. Actually, it’s like riding up a mountain in France—and trust me, I’ve been there with Chet and would probably still be on the mountain if he didn’t come back down to help me climb all the way up, together- literally and figuratively.
Choose to do the hard work. Start today. The mountain isn’t going anywhere. Are you?

Outstanding first post, Chad. Keep these coming!
