“Talkativeness […] is the result of doing away with the vital distinction between talking and keeping silent. Only some one who knows how to remain essentially silent can really talk – and act essentially. Silence is the essence of inwardness, of the inner life. Talkativeness is afraid of the silence which reveals its emptiness.” – Soren Kierkegaard
My interpretation – humans often talk a lot while saying very little. The more we slow down and figure out what we believe, the less we talk for the sake of talking, and the more we begin to say what we mean and become clear, concise, and direct (CCD). When you have something to say, learn to say it CCD. When you have nothing to say, remain silent or get curious. Quit the bullshit chatter and droning on.
If you want to lose your people quickly, talk a lot and say a little. If you want to capture the moment and sear a team, learn to speak a little and say a lot.
