What you believe directly leads to how you respond to situations. Big growth periods in a business are often accompanied by stress and destabilization. Normal. How you and the team respond to it depends on what you believe. Is all destabilization bad? Is all stress bad? If you believe that, then you and your team will complain when the stress of growth arrives, or even worse, begin avoiding it. If you believe that all systems need some amount of good stress in order to grow and evolve, then you’ll begin to welcome it as an opportunity. Perhaps even share a good laugh in the midst of a high growth, high stress season.
Remember, stress is neutral. When your stress exceeds your skillset, it can lead to distress. You want more eustress…good stress that helps you grow. If there are no stressors to the system, it’s a dying system. Get clear on your belief and embrace some good stress. You always have a choice.
