Meaning, mastery, and money

If we chase money for money’s sake, it’s never enough. See day 35 in Becoming Built to Lead. A lesson we humans seem to have hard time letting sink in. Alternatively if we chase meaning and never do the hard work of building mastery we have a hard time making a living.

So what’s the answer? Order matters. Put meaning first, build mastery like crazy, in service of that meaning. Do that, in that order, and the money will follow. And even better, the money won’t be a stranglehold that tethers you. It’ll simply be fuel for your dreams and for chasing more meaning.
