Spending and saving

Rich is flashy. Wealth is stealthy. Rich spends to feel a certain way, impress certain people, maintain a certain image. Wealth is built largely by the discipline to not spend what you currently have (or more precisely too much of what you currently have) in order to buy options and time down the road. Spending on luxury too early or too much is a tax on your future time and options.

And you can go too far on the other side of the coin (so to speak) as well. If you’re sitting on a pile that you can’t spend in this lifetime, read Die with Zero and remember that this life is meant to be lived, and most experiences should be lived as early as possible in life.

Which side of the equation do you land on? Where do you need to rebalance? Are you a spender who needs to rein it in? Or a saver who needs to be more intentional with where you spend? Get clear and take a baby step.
