Life is a series of trade offs. We are not immortal, our time will end. There will be many possible lives we COULD lead that we do not. This becomes a problem when we do not decisively choose a path and walk it with vigor. Instead we often sit at the trail head, never really stepping onto a path for fear of closing alternative paths to us. How silly. For fear of losing a path we choose no path.
Start living. Stride down a path and enjoy all the steps along it. If you find it’s the wrong one, reverse course and find another path. But stride regardless. Any path I choose will come with tradeoffs. That’s part of life. If I choose to marry and have kids the tradeoff may be not living where I’d hoped to live. If the partner and kids is the path you choose for a fulfilling life, make your peace with the tradeoff. Enjoy the path.
The beauty is in making peace with the fact that no matter which path you choose, you cannot have it all. That’s a foregone conclusion. So revel in the joy that is the path you HAVE chosen. Live it well.
