Stories

Be a story spreader. Stories are the most powerful method I know of for both eliciting and disseminating knowledge. Look for examples of people living out the values, chasing excellence, caring for a teammate. Ideally first person observation, and then share them publicly. Telling stories of those within your organization also creates organizational role models. We like to model ourselves after others who have done it. What’s being modeled in your org?

Stories inspire us. They connect us to learning in a way that moves us emotionally not just intellectually and emotion is a big driver of action. Remember, stories are hard wired into us – in our earliest days as humans this was the only way knowledge was disseminated and passed down. Tap into that hard wiring and use it for good.
