What are those cornerstone habits that drive other positive behaviors and habits? For me it’s a few – writing, good sleep, working out. If I’m consistently nailing those three I tend to eat well, show up the way I want to for my family, friends, and clients, etc. Everything else flows from those three.
Doesn’t mean I ignore all others. If I’m working on building a discipline in a particular area, I’ll track that specific habit. It does mean that when things get out of whack (after the birth of our latest kiddo, for example!), the first thing I pay attention to is my foundational habits. Once those are rocking and rolling then I might turn my attention elsewhere. I start super focused rather than trying to boil the ocean and be disciplined in all areas.
