I believe the best things are often found somewhere in the pull between two opposing concepts. Not by watering both down, but by holding the tension between the two and finding the truth that makes it work. Find peace with the situation AND fight to improve. Lead the way AND challenge the team to take it. Leaders move quickly AND slow things down.
Once you know the ends, then it’s simply a matter of calibrating. Know where you fall on the spectrum, know where you’re over-rotating, know what the situation needs. Get clear on the ends of the polarities and then nuance finding your sweet spot. Rinse and repeat.
