Feedback is the true “breakfast of champions.” High performance individuals, teams, and leaders never get tired of asking for help. They seek feedback. They do not wait for feedback to come looking for them. These leaders realize that nobody is as smart as everybody. Today more than ever in history this rings true. Never before has the world truly been flatter. Via the Internet, you and your team can access a wealth of ideas that could transform all of you overnight. Think of feedback as your morning coffee, your morning walk, your morning shower or whatever is your most cherished way to start your day. Make feedback a new habit you can’t start or end your day without.
Seek feedback…do not wait for it to come looking for you. Ask your team, your partners, your assistant, your spouse, your teenagers, your free agents, your clients, your suppliers, your neighbors, your coach, your lawyer, your truth tellers, your friends, and anyone else that might help you get better. Make it safe. Ask them great questions about your business, your team, your life, and anything else that you want to learn more about with a whole new perspective. Take it all in and then decide which to throw out and which to attach to your really strong CORE. This is so freeing to finally not be afraid of asking the hard questions. You no longer care what others think as much as you care about knowing how you and your team can get better. This is getting really cool.
Wheaties are alright for breakfast I’m sure. However, nothing tastes better once you’ve acquired a taste for it then feedback…the real breakfast of champions. Go ahead. Get some feedback. You and your team will never be the same.
