Talk about dreaming BIG…

I love dreaming BIG. However, the more I study history and listen to today’s YOUNG people the smaller my vision appears.

I play it safe. I hold back. I do not take BIG swings. I want the same easy answers that you do. I love being around people that think like I do.

I want life to be comfortable and convenient.

I want to believe that I deserve comfort…I’ve earned it!!!

Here’s my most telling piece to my worldview. I’ve written this one down for years but it keeps getting clearer to me. Here it is.

“The more I learn, the less I know.”

My worldview is always in motion. The more I allow myself to learn other perspectives than the one I currently own, the more opportunity for growth. Oftentimes, this growth is REALLY painful. I have to let go of what I thought I knew.

I’ve been reading a ton of books about the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Learning a bunch. Really cool stuff. These people that came before us were even more inventive, creative, and resilient than I knew.

Then my son, Jordan, disrupts me. He sends me a book while he’s in Mexico that’s titled, THE IRRESISTIBLE REVOLUTION, by Shane Claiborne. This “kid” has hung out in Calcutta with Mother Teresa, been there when the bombs were falling in Iraq, walked in protest with veggie workers in the South, and a bunch more. All in his search for living a life of LOVE. He has a BIG dream for what it means to be a Christian. He is not normal.

If you want to become uncomfortable read this book.

You have been forewarned.

Do you know what you believe?

Do you know why?

When was the last time you questioned your deepest held beliefs? Why or Why not?

How are you closing your own “integrity gaps” between what you say you believe and what you DO believe?
