What does strength sound like. It sounds like one of my recent program attendees. He and I met a couple years ago. He’s been attending BUILT TO LEAD programs with his team for the past six months. When we started he sounded very much like Doug, John, Harry, Debbie, Sally, Jane, Richard and Chester. He sounded like a normal guy that worked for a “benevelant dictator.” He sounded like you. He wanted to be strong. He wanted to fight for his people. He did not know how.
He had a problem.
He worked for someone.
His boss taught him to “fall in line” and just do his job. He learned a degree of “helplessness.” He wasn’t weak, but he was far from STRONG.
He had become the victim of a “benevelant dictator.” Actually, he had allowed this to happen. He, like you and I, have choices to make. Our choices have consequences.
Here’s what strength sounds like. During our practice yesterday he TOLD me to STOP!!
I did.
Later in the day HE TOLD HIS BOSS TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
He did too.
The SOUND of STRENGTH has nothing to do with the voiume of your voice. Your tone doesn’t matter either. Oddly the SOUND of STRENGTH is something that comes from deep inside you. We, your recievers, cannot MISS it. We feel it. So do you.
I hope he learned something through the course of the day. He is getting stronger. He is gaining clarity for how he wants to live and work. He is beginning to make tougher choices. His choices are having REAL consequences. He is becoming a leader. He is becoming BUILT TO LEAD. This is so much fun to watch.
Are you finding your voice?
Are you discovering and building your CORE, the source and center of your strength?
Does your team sense the SOUND of STRENGTH in you?
Are you helping your team find their voice or are you falling into the trap of trying to give them yours?
Are you a “benevelant dictator?”
Are you choosing to iive under the scourge of power?
Why?
