Taste this…

The 12 Essentials of Personal Excellence has just been rewritten. I’ve been rewriting this in pieces for the past two years. These blogs have helped. Coaching you has helped. Working with Larry, Pete, Roger, and Miss has helped. Facilitating practice with you and your teams has helped. As my thanks to you, I offer you an early taste of the new work. This new book is going to be sooooo much better than anything you’ve tasted from BTL before. Enjoy…

This is taken from the new intro…not from the top; from somewhere in the middle.

..BUILT TO LEAD wakes up DEAD people; introduces them to their CORE, and points them to highway for their hero’s journey.

The hero’s journey, as we will discover together, is a story of transformation. The hero is really not the best descriptor. The hero’s journey is always the story of someone “normal,” just like you and me, deciding to pursue their dream. They live in the same chaotic, noisy village where the rest of us “normal” folks hang out. They simply DECIDE to do something weird; to follow their BIG dreams and, in the end, to live thier OPUS in work and life. This story explains WHY we go to the theatre. Conventional wisdom tells us that we go to the movies simply to lose ourselves for a few hours, eat some popcorn, duds, and drink a Coke. Quite the opposite is the real truth. We go to the Rave to see somebody actually do it; really LIVE.

Actually, we go to see someone willing to DIE. The only difference between the hero and the normal Joe or Jane, is that the hero has something worth dying for. In choosing this journey, the hero makes the decision to leave the land of conformity and consensus. This journey will be filled with risky decisions and real adversity. You will become a “mustang” and will become hard to reign in. You will lose the ability to “fake it” and will care, but not that much.

You will never walk “nose to tail” again and will be viewed as weird, scary, and a little bit “out there.” On this journey you will face your fears and run through them. You will fall and often fail on this journey. With the help of “true friends” you will look up, get up, and never give up. You will experience real community. You will gain clarity, conviction, and confidence as you discover the real joys of work and life. You will inspire those around you to journey in the direction of their dreams. You will become a soul on fire. This will be so cool.

Are you on your hero’s journey?

Are you failing early and often enough?

Are you taking the right risks?

Or, are you playing it safe and slowly but surely losing energy?

Why would you want to choose slow death over real life?

Why? Why? Why?

Have you ever really tasted this?
