Another week, another blur of activity. This past week had fourteen hours traveling from Orlando to Columbus with George. Two hours were spent on his builder’s journey. Cool. Catching up on the phone with countless clients and friends. Man are cell phones a curse and a blessing. Great practice with one of my clients teams that produced some real decisions. What a concept…they actually MADE DECISIONS. It’s been three days now and last I checked there are still NO deaths to report. Amazing. Stay tuned, I’m sure there will be. Next I invested a day with Miss that was not a day either of us wanted. Not that we don’t like to invest days together just not at the doctor’s office. She had some skin cancer removed and it pretty much shot the day at the doctor’s holding her hand and then at home making her some lentil soup and holding her ice pack…actually she held the ice pack I just transported it back and forth to the freezer. More great meetings of the minds via mobile technology. Isn’t it great that you and I can hold the pack, the hand, the phone, and still stir the soup. MAYBE…Also this week had me in front of my favorite “sponge” client. This guy always goes the longest…he can’t get enough. Also spent some time on the stairmaster, worked out with some heavies, shot some hoops with Taylor, rode the bike with George and John and of course returned some more calls on the cellular god tool. I also tried to speak to God. I prayed. He did not answer yet. This pattern happens a lot. I guess that must mean it’s normal and all just part of the journey. I also read some books this week. Finished In Defense of Food, Nice Girls Don’t Change The World, and started The Case for Civility and continued reading Free Lunch. You’ve got to read NICE GIRLS DON’T CHANGE THE WORLD. This is short and anything but sweet. This is the story of the Builder’s Journey. It is the story of Lynne Hybels the wife of Bill Hybels who is the founder of Willow Creek Church in Chicago. He’s famous. The Church is HUGE. She WOKE up a few years ago. She’s on her Builder’s Journey now. She’s becoming a little scary, weird, and out of control. She is facing her fear. She’s embracing God’s LOVE. She’s becoming dangerous. You’ll be hearing more from her. Very cool. Drank some wine, ate some greens, avoided sweets for a week, and generally felt really good. Today I’m off to see clients, pack the bags, and then fly to Kansas with Krits, Miss, Tay, and Jenna. We’re going to invest our time hanging out in Lawrence, eating with my Mom and sister, and then finish it off by watching the Jayhawks spank the pussycats from manhattan. At least that’s the plan. You and I can plan…but IT rarely goes according to plan does it. This week sure didn’t.
Soooo, I guess I’ll continue to try to design and plan Chet’s great adventure. My builder’s journey. And, in the end, I’ll most likely end up “takin’ it as it comes.” And, I’m alright with that. Cool.
This blog was a little busy. Were you able to follow?
Are you living your life by your design or just taking it as it comes?
Are you changing your either or’s to AND’s?
Have you built a strong CORE?
Are you on your Builder’s Journey or still living someone else’s dream, demand, and their darn plan?
Are you playing nice or becoming DANGEROUS?
Do you have a big DREAM you are pursuing in work and life?
Are you creating the “margin” it takes to actually LIVE it?
Why?
Why?
Why?
