Today Johnny and I showed up for our normal practice with a group of “suits.” We showed up in Westerville at the normal 8:15 for our normal 8:30 start. Nobody showed up until after 9:00. You see, they had been given the wrong location. Isn’t that a classic. They gave the external facilitators the correct address but stiffed their own. Hello.
I looked around at the group of seven and quickly came to a brilliant conclusion…we were surrounded by CHICKS. Seven chicks stared at us and asked us to lead the way. BTW this phenomenon of “following the leader” is not limited to women. Seems that all of us humans want to TRUST the expert more than we ought. Here’s another interesting piece to the puzzle…the further the expert has traveled the smarter he or she must be. Whaaaaaaat?
Back to our group of seven.
We refused to guide today. We pushed back. Funny what happens when we as leaders do… NOTHING.
We pushed quietly AND something like MAGIC happened. We pushed back and “bright eyes” grabbed the reins, K1 anded, K2 came clean about skinny chicks, D3 summed it up, T spoke quietly and carried a chick stick, C.I.D. looked us off, and the S.S. Mary smiled a Duchenne smile!!
This was the BEST practice EVER with this group of “suits.” Who knew a chickfest could be this productive. They found out that they didn’t need the expert…just each other. Very cool.
They found the meaning page and became C.F.U.’s baby. Our next practice will be amazing. These chicks are getting it. There may be hope for these “suits” yet. It’s going to get LOUD.
