Reread…

My son is studying business and taking some courses on philosophy this year at OSU.  He’s reading a variety of thinkers and is developing quite an appetite for thinking for himself.  Very cool.

In one of our recent conversations his thoughts took me back to a favorite book I last read in 2003.  I dusted it off one of my bookshelves and began to read it two days ago.  The book is titled, The Call, and is written by Os Guinness.  As many of you know, he’s one of my favorite authors and thinkers.  I’ve read this book twice.

It feels like the first time.

Has the author changed?  NO.

Is my retention suspect?  Maybe so.

Has my perspective changed in 5 years?  YES!

I’m amazed as I reread, rewrite, review, reapply, rethink, redo, and reconnect things that I’ve learned before to where I am today how different they seem.  There are sooooo many books to read, so many teams to build, so many people with whom to connect that life oftentimes becomes a dizzying race forward.  Toward, seemingly, always something or someone NEW.  Reread a few really good, rich books this week.

Slow down.  You may be amazed at how deep the reservoir runs.
