Today I told one of my clients what I heard him tell me. He LOVED what he heard. I love it when this happens. I love giving my clients my esteem. They know and I know that it’s been EARNED.
Today was such a day.
I told my client that I heard him “holding back.” He had just had a breakthrough meeting with his team and yet his voice was still replaying his old “script” given to him by countless, well, and not so well meaning leaders. His FEAR was telling him to not let all of him out. He was “hearing” that he’ll overwhelm the team yet again.
I told him to “release his passion.” He’s become BTL and has replaced his anger at others NOT running with his JOY of running. He’s like Big Brown rounding the final turn at the Preakness. I’m “turning him loose” and now all he has to do is RUN.
I told him that “I believe in you.” I could feel those words sink in. He got it. He felt my belief. He’s been building a strong CORE for over one year, he’s been on his builder’s journey, he’s been investing into his 10,000 hours of mastering his craft, he’s been learning about his personality and the personalities of his team members, he’s been learning how to really listen and find the melody line, he’s been taking this home and learning how to live with teenagers too, he’s been building relationships with truth tellers, he’s been getting comfortable with the fact that this journey is taken in fits and starts, he’s been on and off again, he’s been building his big dreams…and yet he’s still got FEAR.
Today FEAR took a hit. Today, BTL’s Big Brown took off. He rounded the bend and headed for home. The crowd, I’m sure is roaring their approval. Here’s the really cool part.
BTL’s Big Brown, I’m sure, hasn’t even NOTICED.
What is holding you back?
What is holding back your big DREAMS in work and life?
What is holding your team back?
Who needs to know that you believe in them?
Tell me more…
