CEO disease…

CEO disease is a great descriptor isn’t it.  What do you picture when you read those words?  What do you hear?  Do you see yourself, or just your “boss?”

The term was coined by Daniel Goleman and refers to the information vaccum that surrounds those with POWER.  It’s so true.  The higher one rises, in any system, the less likely you are to hear the truth.  The less likely you are to EVER be told the truth.

Power silences almost all of us.

Today, I had the choice to “interview” two potential new clients.  They are both CEO’s.  King’s of their company.  Top of the system.  One of them invested our time together telling me that he was only here to support his COO.  He felt that he did NOT need building.  He’s turning over the reins….so to speak.  He’s already made his money and now he wants to prepare to move on.

The other told me that he wanted to fix his COO.  He had a problem and he wanted it repaired.  As we talked I sensed his desire and felt very comfortable with his big ‘why’s.”  After explaining the way we work and that the work would start with him, the CEO, AND his COO, he “got it.”  He quickly realized “why” we build this way.  He saw, clearly, where he needing to be built.  He’s “on board,” to use his terms.

Which of these CEO’s would you work for?

Which of these would get your best?

Why do so many separate money and meaning?

Why do so many just want the ride to be over so they can move on, only to find that they have no where worth going?

Why do many leaders believe that something is good for their team but not for them?

How do you know you are NOT a “highly paid laborer?”

How are you combatting CEO disease in YOU?

Are you beginning to see “why” the second essential in the 12, is building humility?
