In 1776 a group of rebels decided to declare their independency from a tyrannical King. This tyrant was forcing them to do things they did not want to do and kept them from doing things that they really wanted to do. Simple as that.
What is our parallel oppressor today? Is there such a person or such a thing in our “free” society today?
I believe there is. Todays oppressor does not have a title, does not tax us, does not rule over us, and is not human. Most of us think that today’s oppressor is beyond all control. It’s just the way our modern society moves and we are forced, against our will, and without our control to be swept along by this powerful current.
Today’s oppressor is our busyness.
Today’s oppressor is NOT your business. It is the fact that, for many, their business is running them and not the other way around. Many, it seems, believe that the boss is the KING and whatever he demands, when he demands it, is simply a TAX they have to pay. Your cell phone and your pager are simply another example of your debt of servitude. 24/7 you are forced to be accessible to your KING…your modern day oppressor.
Today’s oppressor is NOT your business and it’s NOT your boss. Today’s oppressor is your busyness. You are your own worst enemy.
Your strong CORE is the answer. Your strong CORE will serve as your anti-busy declaration of independency. You will show the KING and yourself, how a strong CORE allows you to become more productive while working less hours. Your strong CORE will provide you with an inner compass that will guide your work to become exceptional but not exclusive and not excessive. Your strong CORE will lead you to define your OPUS; your vision for interdependence. What virtuous King wouldn’t like that? Together you will get better, NOT just busier.
Remember, you are free from King George III. You are free to do what you want and in fact it is exactly what you are doing this very second.
What is keeping you from living and working at your best?
Are you too busy to get better?
Do you always say yes to the boss?
Are you running your busyness or your business?
Tell me more….
