We are ALL in the “broadcasting” business…

Last week was a crazy week.  This week will likely be very similar.  Individuals, teams, and leaders are “hunkering” down to weather the storm.  Bad news is being “broadcast.”

Sadly, bad news is always being sent.

Yesterday we held practice with one of our BTL clients.  It was a good practice.  Trust was built, the vision gained clarity, and team members began to think about visions of their own.  Very cool.

I also reminded this team that we humans are “predictably irrational.”  When we need courage the most, we lock onto CNN and watch the ticker go down or up by the minute.  We become “paralyzed” into a trance like state simply watching bad news being “broadcast.”

We lose energy just watching the show.

When we “experience” some bad news of our own, we mostly continue the trend.  We “broadcast” it for our entire network.  “The boss let me down again,” for all to hear.  We feel better getting it off our chest, but it gets heavier with every chest that receives it.  Bad news gets heavier with each additional broadcast.  Talk about a bummer…

The team loses energy receiving our show.

Here’s what high performance teams “broadcast.”  They tell each other stories that build, not break, their team members.

They tell each other BAD news too.  Here’s what makes them different.  They tell each other the bad news, one on one and in private.

They “broadcast” little, stories that build momentum.  They tell everyone.  Nobody is spared the good stuff.  Information isn’t power, it’s freedom and is shared as if it is oxygen.  This energizes all that breathe it in. Don’t get me wrong here.  They don’t broadcast flattery, puffery, or vague statements.  Instead, they broadcast very specific, REAL, stories of success.  They are there in every living system.  Sometimes you just have to look a little harder to find them.

The team gets INSPIRED, not tired, watching rerun after rerun of this powerful show.

What are yours?

Why aren’t you telling them to EVERYBODY?

What are you “broadcasting?”

Did you ever think that to your system, you just might have more interested viewers than CNN?

You do.

What signal are you sending?

Is it worth catching…
