Today I met with one of my oldest clients. He’s not old, but he’s been building with BTL for half a decade. Wow, that sounds like a long time when it’s put that way. This young man and his even younger team are stinkin’ AWESOME.
Today we talked about his sales positioning and a variety of other topics. We laughed and talked about his team both at work and at home. We eventually landed back on his sales positioning and spent the majority of our time there. Here’s what we discovered.
He’s been blinded by the light.
I know that sounds a little weird but here’s what I mean. He and his team have gotten so strong and so bright over the past five years. He knows this. They know this. Here’s the funny part. His sales positioning hasn’t been “enlightened” to reflect this. He undersells his company. He’s been blind to how strong they’ve become. He’s been, in fact, blinded by their LIGHT.
NOT for long.
Today we, change that, HE decided to start to shine their light for all to see. He revamped his sales pitch while we ate. You could see his eyes light up too. He knows they’re good and now he’s figured out how to package that for their clients to understand. I can’t wait to see how this lights up their sales efforts. This team deserves to win every deal. They’re that good.
Very cool. Very bright.
It’s really fun to watch a great team do their thing. You find yourself rooting for them to win and win and win. Excellence is just as contagious as mediocrity…it’s just a lot more fun to be around winning teams.
What are you blind to?
Are you underselling your team of builders?
Are you still treating your market the way you did before you got so strong?
Are you blinded by the light?
