This week I’ve been getting “certified” along with Kitty and Debbie, the two newest members of the BTL Band, on the Myers – Briggs Type Instrument.
MBTI.
I first “took” the MBTI back in 1993 while attending the Center for Creative Leadership. I resisted going back. I like to learn on my terms, I guess. Bummer and bonus but not at the same time. There I go talking in concepts and extrapolating in my mind. Hmmmm…
The learning this week is amazing. Our facilitator is my same type, ENFP, and is well on the road to mastering her 10,000 hours in this domain. We have all learned a ton about type and will learn more and more as we mine our minds in the years to come. Fascinating stuff for sure.
Thank you, Michele.
That’s the short of it. The long of it will take awhile to process. I’ll get back to you. In the meantime please remember this. You are NOT your type code. Only you can author your best descriptor and only you can discover how to use this knowledge once you obtain it. As always, with BTL, the answers are only found when we slow down and reflect.
I highly recommend that you dust off your personality profile and review it with your builder. Ask him or her to help you validate the theory. Ask your builder to assist you in understanding more than your score. And maybe, just maybe, you will be on your way to self discovery. And maybe, just maybe, you will then be on your way to learning how best to discover with your teams. And maybe, just maybe, you will then be able to translate this discovery to performance.
If not, congrats anyway.
At least you have another label to attach to your ever lengthening list…
