Today we held practice with a bunch of dirt lovers. Our client is known for the work they do below the ground. I really enjoy being with these guys because there is such a sense of reality from head to toe. Today the “linebacker” hit it out of the park. No surprise there. This guy’s on fire and has been for awhile now. Doug was a bit under the weather. The economy has gotten him down is my guess. He was still good to go every time I called his number, but he’s usually the one calling the signals. Dan the man was inspiring and taking notes like a man possessed. Very cool.
Hazy wasn’t around and neither was JD or dirty Joe. The team showed up without them and boy did they do them up proud. That, my friends, is some lousy grammar but I hope you catch the point. Chris, Shawn, and Tommy represented Joe just fine and Renee and Ray did the same for Hazy. It’s so much fun to watch the newbies take little to “no” time coming up to speed. That is the speed of TRUST.
Of course Johnnythegurue kicked it off in fine fashion with a little viewing of Mr Holland and his OPUS. I tried not to get in his way, and I didn’t do so well. Mary came down from Illinois and taught everyone a thing or two about the government and how to market so we win the award. She’s going to be a catalyst for sure. Jason came to the front to tell me about another movie that I just had to view. Don’t you love it when people know and love your work to such a degree that they can’t help but help you? What a blessing this practice was…
For me.
The beauty of practicing with your team is discovery. Today we discovered together and we learned from a bunch of new guys. We learned and we all agreed to a couple productive actions. We agreed to owning, as the linebacker put it, our “depth” and to working together to develop our “width.”
These dirt lovers are going to be fun to watch.
Correction, these dirt lovers are a ton of fun to be “with.”
Is your team practicing together regardless the weather?
Why do we tend to stop developing our “most important asset” when the economy becomes turbulent?
Are you helping your individuals develop their depth in their “20 square feet,” while concurrently bringing the “cubes” together to develop their width across all our feet?
Tell me more…
