Today began at 7 bells. I met an “old” but very young couple of clients for a coffee and catchup. We invested 90 minutes together. They couldn’t wait to tell me all about their breakthroughs. Their eyes told me what I already knew. This pair is freakin’ MAGIC. I’ve been seeing this for quite some time. Isn’t it funny how others see it, oftentimes, before we do.
Thank you, God.
I left them at 8:30 and headed to one of my favorite places. I headed to Arlington to practice with another client and their team for the first time.
Practice number one is always amazing.
We practiced from 9 bells until just past 4. The time absolutely flew. We practiced reading, speaking, and listening. We practiced being interested over being interesting. We practiced writing. We practiced asking curious questions that lead to deeper and deeper understanding. We practiced being a team. We practiced telling stories. We practiced being a disease and infecting our team. We practiced laughing and laying back. We practiced going with the flow and losing control. We practiced looking at each other and NOT at our crack.
Crackberries, that is.
We practiced slowing down. We practiced 7 good minutes. We practiced facing our fears and challenging our minds. We practiced taking off the mask. We practiced being vulnerable. We practiced reading out loud. We practiced watching the hero’s journey. We practiced watching people live out their OPUS. We practiced learning about each other because we wanted to. We practiced seeing and then stopping our minds from rushing to judge. We practiced being “unproductive” together. We practiced living our tagline, together we improve.
AND, we kinda liked it.
Every collection of individuals, teams, and leaders is designed for greatness. There are none of us that are designed to just be mediocre. Every one of us is designed by the most creative of creators and are created to be a living work of ART. A masterpiece.
It only makes sense then, that every collection of individuals is designed to discover their purpose, to master their craft, to become autonomous, and to belong to each other. Every collection is designed to become ONE. ONE team that is aligned, energized, and fully engaged in their OPUS. ONE team that is BUILT TO LEAD.
Today, the Gurue and I had the chance to play with a team of 23. A collection of 23 individuals, teams, and leaders. Over time, through adversity, and with some real, hard, work they will become ONE.
I can already see it…
