Cheat here…

Leaders, don’t treat your team members equally.  Give more of your attention and your energy to your top performers.  Don’t make the mistake of giving more attention to the problem associate, to the guy who never quite makes plan, to your bottom ten percent, to your guy with great potential but seemingly always less than stellar results. Most leaders make this mistake.  This takes your energy.  This is exactly what most mediocre leaders habituate.  They cheat their energy and attention toward the bottom.

BTL builders cheat differently.  They cheat toward their top performers.  They  give them a disproportionate amount of their attention and  energy.

Treat your team equally in terms of giving them all clear direction in the form of a written performance plan that spells out the purpose of their work, why it’s important, what is expected from them in terms of specific, measurable results, and how you expect them to get there.  Treat your team equally.

And, remember to cheat toward your top performers.  Give your top few a disproportionate amount of your attention and energy.  They will multiply your energy investment.  They will get the results.  They require more energy and attention.

What and who are you watering?

Remember, the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.  The truth is simply this.  The grass is always greener where you water it.

Where are you watering?

Tell me more, my friend.
