black and WHITE…

One of my favorite movie scenes is the opening one to Jerry McGwire.  Jerry is struggling amidst his seemingly successful surroundings.  In the background, the narrator asks the question:

Do you know your name?

Most of us do not.  We know what we’ve been called by others, we know some of our identity, we know our title at work, we know our alumni song, we know our nicknames, and we know what we’re NOT.  We say to ourselves, and sometimes to our dearest of friends, that we are not who we thought we would be.  We have labeled ourselves and found ourselves wanting.  We’ve given ourselves the “black stone” judgement.  NOT the one you want…
