Caroline…

Caroline works with one of my clients.  She plays a valuable role as a leader in this system.  The funny thing about that last sentence is that doesn’t everybody?  Play a valuable role, that is…

Yesterday, during our practice session, she inspired me and any team members that were giving her their attention.  She told us a story about her PA (productive action) from our last practice.  She had taken what she learned while practicing with us and put it to work in the real work.  She was blown away by the response of one of her team members.  Her team member put “structure and order” to Caroline’s idea that Caroline couldn’t have done on her own.  The result was just as surprising, or so it seemed.  Her PA was actually working productively.  The baby step had, in fact, improved performance.  Funny, huh.

The road to excellence is traveled in baby steps like Caroline’s.  There are very few “silver bullets,” and even fewer “game changing events.”  There just aren’t.   Most teams become magical the old fashioned way, by thousands of little nuances and then a thousand more.  Caroline created a buzz yesterday with something small and something real.

What baby step are you taking today to improve your performance?

What baby step are you encouraging your team members to make?

Tell me more, my friend.
