The soothing feel of the green…

Imagine that instead of whatever age today finds you, you were at this very moment celebrating your 90th.  Imagine a couple different possibilities.

Imagine a life of great wealth and some meaning.  Imagine a life of  great pain, great sorrow, big DREAMS, a life pursuing your OPUS, a few people you’ve really LOVED, and a life that was rich with meaning.

Which would you choose at your 90th birthday celebration?

Most choose a life rich with meaning when they imagine themselves at 90, and look back.  AND, most humans actually live like it’s all about accumulating assets, mitigating financial risks, and selling out for a little more as they look to the future, the financial future.  Remember, we are not rational beings.  We humans are mostly predictably irrational.  We just are.

Where are you investing your most precious commodity, your time?

Why is it that most humans are fixated on “their number” and are always trying to “balance” their other obligations, you know family, friends, and other “soft” stuff?

Why is it that most humans imagine that they need “just a little bit more?”

Why is that we all want our lives to end like the ending of Mr. Holland’s OPUS, when we lived it like the beginning of the film, There will be blood?

God, help me invest my time building my strong CORE. AND, give me the courage to value people and all the relational pain over the soothing feel of the green.

God, help me…
