Practice hearing more…

This week something hard, hit me.

Truth in LOVE is not all that it’s cracked up to be.  It hurts.  In fact, it hurts a whole bunch.  When you find yourself experiencing a whole bunch of acute pain as you are practicing telling more truth in LOVE to those in your circle, here’s a real quick win.  We love quick wins don’t we.  Get ready.  Here comes ONE.

Practice hearing more.  Your acute pain is simply a warning signal of sorts.  It’s a signal from your system that you’ve overloaded it in one direction.  99.9% of the time we overload the system from our big mouth.  We practice telling just a little too much.  I know I do.

Practice hearing the truth in LOVE just a little bit more.  Practice asking those in your circle for feedback.  Keep asking them to illuminate your blindspots.  Keep asking them how you can really help them.  Keep asking them what you are doing that is really irritating and unproductive.  Keep asking them to tell you the truth in LOVE around the pain YOU are bringing to the party.  Let it in.  Drop all attempts to filter.  Drop your defenses.  Embrace hearing the truth in LOVE especially when you know it’s not.  Funny isn’t it that we mostly believe that we have a lock on the truth.

When you find truth in LOVE producing an abundance of pain, remember, it’s a warning that you need to open your ears, shut your big mouth, open your mind, shut down your triple d, grab some courage, and hear more.  Simple.  REAL. HARD. WORK.

God, help me hear more.

God, help me seek more.

God, help me listen without activating my triple D (defend, deny, destroy).

God, help me hear more truth in whatever form it’s delivered.

God, help me…
