The short cut to clarity…

Every client wants to reach their big dream and find themselves at the top of their Mount Everest.  Every client wants their big dream to be amazing and to be shared by all in their system.  Every client wants this overarching vision to be crystal clear and awe inspiring.  Every client makes the mistake of thinking that getting busy on really good processes will eventually get ’em there.  They are looking for the shortcut, the shortcut to clarity…

AND, every builder, me included, has to look that same client in the eye and tell them to rinse it again, rinse it again, rinse it again.  Every builder has to challenge the leader to gain crystal clarity on their overarching vision and crystal clarity on their purpose before we allow them to “move out,” if you will.  Every builder fears being rejected.  Every builder fears being fired.  Every builder isn’t worth a lick, until they face that fear and run right through it.  I’m a little bit nuts this way.  If you’re a client of mine, you’ve most likely seen this in action, at least I hope so.  Here’s why…

My biggest mistakes, as a builder, have always been around letting my client off the hook, letting them settle for pretty good, almost there, good enough, 90%, and allowing them to “move out” with this kinda clarity.  My biggest mistake is always around allowing some kinda short cut to clarity.  This kinda behavior is out of alignment with our purpose.  It just is.

Our purpose at BTL mirrors mine.  We exist to Awaken, Challenge, and Transform individuals, teams, and leaders into ONE.  ONE, distinct and deeply connected, that is BUILT TO LEAD.

Our purpose is not to let you off the hook until you’ve built your sCORE strong enough and defined your OPUS with crystal clarity.  Our purpose will not make us popular.  We will never be for the masses.  We will never be the next Carnegie, Maxwell, or Coach flavor of the month.  We will, however, become BTL alongside a few crazy clients that LOVE their team, LOVE their work, LOVE mastering their craft, and LOVE becoming BTL.

These few will understand that climbing the mountain is REAL, HARD, WORK. These few will be willing to “plank their ass off” to get there.  These few will inspire a few more.  These few will understand that there is no short cut to clarity.  There just isn’t.

If you’re reading this and you’re a client of mine, or a fellow BTL builder, expect more challenge from me in 2011.  AND, feel free to push, pull, and even plank me.  Yea, BABY…

God, help me LOVE my family, friends, and clients enough to listen, speak, and act more and more in alignment with truth in LOVE.

God, help me.
