Yes AND Yes is the one you want…

Here’s another slant on the 28 55 17 numbers from Gallup.  Remember, according to Gallup 28% of America’s workers are “engaged” in their work, 55% are NOT, and 17% are actively disengaged.

Everybody wants to know what kinda team they’ve got and put them into one of these three buckets.  Of course this is hard to do as Gallup doesn’t provide a matrix to solve the subjective nature of who belongs in what bucket.  Here’s a very measurable means to know if you’re in the 28% bucket.

Do you have a clear, Overarching vision for you and your work?

Are you  productively ACTing your way forward?

Yes AND Yes equals engaged, period.

You cannot be engaged in your work and NOT have a vision for where you are going.  You cannot be engaged in your work and NOT productively ACT your way forward.  Engaged humans are self starters.  Their ignition comes from deep within them and is a spark that you cannot miss.  They are on the move and take responsibility for making sure it’s in the right direction too.  The “28 percenters” are easy to recognize; they answer Yes AND Yes and you just know that they mean it.

The other potential combinations are more complicated to discern.  They just are.

Look around your place of work and see how many of your associates answer “Yes AND Yes” with conviction, clarity, and confidence.  Now, at least you know what you’ve got in the most important bucket.

Yes AND Yes is the one you want.
