What is vital to leading a strong family or a strong team?
It’s not what most of us think. It’s not more knowledge, most leaders are darn near masters of their craft. It’s not learning some new technique or magical tool to unlock the hidden potential of your team. It’s not building your empathy and increasing your ability to feel what those around you are feeling. It’s important, it’s nice to have, it helps, but it’s NOT vital. It’s just not.
What’s vital to leading strong teams?
The capacity of the leader to clarify his/her work, where it’s headed, why it matters, and what they’re doing to productively move in that direction. All the while burying their own anxiety, resisting the urge to fix others, AND not listening to the noise coming from anxious others in their system. This is vital.
Few leaders have built this capacity.
