Depth of thinking AND a discipline toward ACTion…

Great lives require a depth of thinking.  Most humans disqualify themselves here.  Few take the time to think about the big questions in life.  Why am I here, Who am I, Is there a God, What happens to us when we die, Is there such a thing as truth, are but a few of the big ones that warrant some inner wrestling.  This thought process produces angst, confusion, depression and gives the untrained brain a bit of a headache.  Funny, huh.

The remedy that the masses choose is to STOP thinking such thoughts.  As Pascal said long ago, most choose some form of distraction rather than thinking about the big questions of life.  We just do.

The universe, however, has it’s own agenda.  Eventually all humans think these thoughts, it’s just usually after HUGE doses of PAIN.  The recipe for building greatness is simply more practive than leaving it to the universe to give us the nudge.  So, here’s the rough recipe.  Do not miss this.  This could be HUGE.

Great lives require a depth of thinking AND a discipline toward ACTion.

Do not forget this “and.”  Too much thinking and not enough acting leads to depression.  Too much action without thinking leads to lots of self inflicted wounds and a busyness that results in some form of burnout or some nasty explosion down the road.  Study history and see for yourself.

Great lives require thinking and acting.  The more deeply you think the more frequently you must ACT.  The more that you ACT, ACT, ACT, the more you must slow down and reflect.

Remember, our aim is to become the reflective actionator.  That is one weird dude.  Check out that blog if you want another rant along these lines.  I think that I titled that one by it’s name.  I’ve been thinking enough for now; the road and my wheels are calling me out…
