A dilemma present in every team is around obedience. Every system, remember, establishes rules almost as quickly as they assimilate. We are wired for structure and order. We want to know that someone is in charge even though we don’t often want to follow. Funny, huh.
Throughout history we have struggled to integrate the need for structure and obedience with the equally strong need for a sense of self and autonomy. In essence we all want to belong and become.
We want to belong to some form of community and we want to become our true selves.
Belong and become.
The BTL leader understands that these deep desires are often in conflict. They first get clarity for themselves. OPUS, PoP, and sCORE are awesome tools toward clarity for belonging and becoming. Once the BTL leader has gained this clarity within, they can move out into their structure and help their teammates do the same. Clarity must come within first. Remember, we can’t take another further than we’ve taken ourselves. We just can’t.
Some of the team will deeply connect and a sense of belonging will bring about team chemistry we like to call MAGIC. Some teammates will discover that as they become true to themselves, they will realize that they don’t belong where they’ve taken up residence. They will face a choice. Will they remain obedient to their present authority, or will they find their own way.
As families we face the same dilemma around obedience. Family businesses, even moreso.
Do you see why you need to build a strong CORE, sCORE, and learn how to question everything so you can really belong on the team of your choosing while becoming truly autonomous?
How are you integrating obedience and autonomy into you and your teams?
Do you see why our purpose is to help individuals, teams, and leaders become ONE. ONE, distinct and deeply connected, that is BTL?
Belong and become is the one you want…
