Yesterday I received the kinda call we all like. It was good news from far away. My client told me about one of his team standing and delivering, his big “Why,” to the head of the system. He had recently been given the lead on one of the companys biggest projects and the big boss was in town for an update. She got more than just CCD, she got CCD from a passionate, convicted, and confident teammate. Very cool.
Here’s why.
Practice brought this teammates passion to the surface. Practice taught him how to speak from his heart. Practice taught him how to look another in the eye with “shoot in his.” Practice taught him that he can write. Practice taught him that he has alot to say. Practice taught him that he has belief, he just needed to bring it into his conscious mind, practice taught him that he’s a great listener and what a great, undervalued, skill that is, and practice taught him that there’s nothing to be afraid of when you come prepared.
The first time we practiced together, I can remember thinking to myself that I better go easy on this one. He looked so scared and unsure. Not anymore. You see, practice pays off. Practice builds high performers outa every size, shape, sex, demeanor, personality, nationality, and any other category you track. Practice pays off, because in BTL practice everybody plays.
Every team underperforms because every team has a teammate like this one, that they just don’t hear from. Practice changes that. Practice, remember, is all about finding the next “organ player,” and, just like Dylan “turning ’em up.”
Thanks for the call, thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for committing to team practice. See you at the next practice, team of 9. See you at the next practice…
