Focus me and force me…

By way of reminder…

Focus me. Force me to tell you more. These are the words that I challenged two amazing leaders to habitually use to really push each other.

FD is to walk into Sugar tell him his scenario and then ask him to please, “focus me.”

Sugar is to walk into FD and tell him his situation and then ask him to please, “force me to tell you more.”

One leader needs to learn to send less, one leader needs to learn to send more. Not all of the time, not even most of the time, just when it’s the right time. Freakin’ magic.

This plays exactly to each others strengths and acknowledges their weakness. They both smiled as we ended practice. They know they are absolutely each others best builders. I know it too. As their builder, my job is to never stop challenging them for just a little bit more. My job is to understand each individual at a depth that is far from common and help them do the same with themselves and their team.

Few leaders travel this road of discovery for themselves, much less their team. Why? Not because it’s squishy and soft, this much is certain. In fact, the reason this road is so lightly traveled is the same reason that the majority of our country is so heavy. Here’s why. Because building yourself and building another is REAL, HARD, WORK.No shortcuts exist, just a long steady climb and very few followers. Fewer still as you reach toward the top.

Focus me and force me may not mean much to you. To FD & Sugar those four words are freakin’ magic. Those four words signal a construction zone ahead and it’s time to slow down and get busy building.

See you on the road, FD & Sugar.

See you on the road.  It’s gonna be real, hard, work, and it’s gonna be sweet…
