Happy New Day!

Yesterday, I heard a gifted preacher preach appreciation for the lives we have been given, experienced as “one day at a time.” Also, he spoke of gratitude for the mere and awesome fact of our existence, against nearly infinitely improbable odds. And insight into the truth and beauty of all creation, including our own authentic, true selves, capable of knowing God and growing to our full potential. And finally, for the only adequate response for all these blessings–to be a blessing for everyone we meet, everywhere, every day.

“Appreciation”–such a big word. Webster gives it four definitions. Think about these today, and every day, on your hero’s journey:

1. to be grateful or thankful;

2. to value and regard highly;

3. to be fully conscious of, to detect;

4. to raise in value.

A strong core is as simple as “A-B-C-D”–Appreciation, Blessing, Calling, and Discipline.
