I have the privilege of working with a number of reasonable people. People that like to make sense of their worlds and do the right things the right way. These people work with lots of people that are NOT like them. A lot of my clients, in other words, work with unreasonable folks. Here’s the most common mistake I see them make. They make this mistake a lot.
They try to be reasonable with unreasonable folks.
If you are currently trying to rationally help an addict, please STOP. Interventions are unreasonable acts and they have a better history of working.
If you are currently trying to rationally calm down your angry partner, please STOP. Love them or leave them but STOP trying to fix them.
If you are currently trying to transition power seemlessly from your leader, please STOP. Nothing worth possessing has ever been given. Grab the reins, kick hard, and GO.
