Kathleen, Chris, Jenny, FD, Chad, and the power of becoming ONE…

Today an HR executive dropped the “F” bomb and fear took a direct hit.

Are you kidding me? Nope.

Yesterday Kathleen said she didn’t believe, and we all did.  Today, FD practiced triple d until we got raw, and demanded that he stop. We stopped him.  Yesterday, Chad felt alone and we never felt so connected.  Today,  I pushed a team of 9 to cross the line, and crossed some kinda line in the process.  Yesterday, I felt that I had never seen a team so raw and real.  Today, I couldn’t believe the real Jessica showed up.  Yesterday, I saw something great happen, out of the blue and unexpected.  Today, I saw it again.  Yesterday, I was very comfortable letting it go and watching a team get a bit out of control.  Today, I told Chris that I was going to kick his arse if he didn’t come to the next practice ready to force me to connect to his OPUS.  Yesterday, I helped a team see “From the Sky down” instead of the ground up.  Today, I had the chance to do it again.

I walked in the room today and lit ’em up.  Nobody had any doubt why I was here and where I wanted them to go.  I didn’t think about crossing the line because I didn’t even see it.

The magic behind authoring your OPUS and building your sCORE, is that when you walk into whatever you do, you don’t have to think.  You simply bring your unanxious presence and let it rip.

Yesterday and today, I let it rip in two very distinct and deeply connected ways with two distinct and very different teams.  I helped them both see that the problem isn’t “out there,” and it won’t get better with others until each of them sees the problem “in here.”

Remember, your brain can only deal with one creative mess at a time.  And, we can’t become ONE, distinct and deeply connected with others until we’ve done the hard work within.

The power of becoming ONE, remember, isn’t about unity. It’s about becoming clear and comfortable with our differences while remaining loyal and kind to our band.

I can’t wait to practice with one of my bands tomorrow afternoon over a couple pints. I think I’m going to light ’em up. The power of becoming ONE is intoxicating. It’s an odd way to live your life, from the sky down. Odd, it turns out, is the one Y.O.U. want. Drink this ONE in…
