Distinct and deeply connected…

By way of reminder.

Our purpose, at BTL, is simple to say, hard to understand, and completely nuts to most.

Our purpose is to Awaken, Challenge, and together Transform a few individuals, teams, and leaders into ONE. ONE, distinct and deeply connected, that is BUILT TO LEAD.

Distinct and deeply connected is the magic. Do you see it?

Every day, this is my compass, my due north, if you will. At the end of the day, I look back on my work and ask myself if I lived the defining statement of my work. I rarely miss the mark. My clients know why I am with them and they know where we’re going. Your purpose statement should guide you in like fashion, or it’s not really of much use.

The in the acrostic OPUS is for purpose and you’ve not authored yours until it’s more than words on a piece of paper.  Your purpose is your “deep why” for your work.  The more your why centers around meaning the less you’ll worry about money and the richer your circle of influence will become.  The more your purpose focuses on money, the more you’ll worry that it’s not going to be enough. Your circle of influence will reflect this anxiety, mostly without your awareness.

Purpose matters and it’s got to be good. Every masterpiece centers around this statement. This past week, another client of mine authentically authored his own. These are milestone moments and take a long time coming. His came on rinse number 7.  Yours will come, but only after you’ve dug deep and pulled it up from within.  Funny, the good stuff always comes from within and only after we’ve stopped searching someplace else…

Are you directed by your purpose and aligned to your “due north?”

Are you authoring your OPUS and popping it with discipline?

Are you building CORE strength within and remaining connected with those that haven’t?

Tell me more, my friend.

Tell me more…

  1. Tell me more, my friend!

I only get “pieces” from your blog spot. Somehow, even with pieces, I am inspired, and I always want more.I don’t fully know what OPUS means, but I DO know that I am called to lead, and that I am often terrified of the responsibility while feeling very unqualified.

But I am available, and I am teachable. I definately want to be obedient to what the Lord has called me to do. After 3 years of kicking and running, and yes – “practising obedience” and experiencing His enormous grace while witnessing His amazing interaction in our midst, I am accepting and relying more on His belief in me and His ability to transform me into the leader He wants to use.

Is “Built to Lead” part of His plan? Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take advantage of your training with Heartbeat International due to our move to a new facility close to the time of the leadership training – and our resources were operating on Faith as this move was a HUGE leap. In this new place, I will need to be even more the torch bearer, “director”, spokesperson, mender, ect.

Please tell me more about what you do, and how you might work with someone like me who has a passion to serve and to be transformational in our community.

  2. Thanks Karen for your kind words and your interest in BTL. Kitty Allen actually facilitated the Heartbeat conference and there will be more that both she and John Rue will lead in the future. I will ask them to followup with you and see how they can assist you. Thanks again for your interest and tell me more about “why” you get pieces…
