“I’m not sure it’s because I have a weak core, it may be because I don’t care,” my client told me with a somewhat puzzled crease across his face. He was responding to my challenge as to why he tells me CCD what he dances around with his CEO.
I responded that if he didn’t care then why were we talking about it. His face, creased with puzzlement, ceased signaling almost instantly. A flushness appeared and a sense of resignation too. “Damn, I hate it when you’re right,” he said. Me too, I retorted. Me too.
I challenged him to build his core and his CORE. I reminded him that everytime he second guesses himself and his decisions, he slows his productivity. He and the vast majority of the working world spend cycle after cycle second guessing how to play a certain scenerio, a specific personality, a tough project, a difficult conversation, and all other kinda conflicts that each day brings. Strong CORE centered leaders, think less. Funny, huh.
They have built their internal matrix to process all kinda people, positions, and problems and reach a conclusion quickly for the best way forward, so it’s much easier to ACT. They don’t have to think about it. They don’t chew the cud and ruminate with teammate after teammate, peer after peer, board member after board member until they reach some kinda consensus. They simply plug the scenerio into their matrix, their CORE,and out comes the answer. So they go, they ACT. This is the one you want…
