The word matrix originated a bunch of years ago in ancient Rome. It literally translates to the English word, “womb.”
The ancients talked about their matrix like we talk about our math and science. The matrix, they believed, gave “birth” to the answer.
Today, during some one on one discovery time with one of my young new clients, we covered this very old and very relevant topic together. My client learned the definition of the word matrix, worldview, moral compass, and moral dilemma. He learned that he has a worldview and, like most of the world, it’s not rooted in the depth of his thought. Nope it’s not. His worldview, like most, is rooted in how he was raised and what he’s gone through and that’s about it. Over time and through adversity, he’s going to change that. Very cool.
And, today, he began to learn how to find the melody line and how to tie things together. He learned the power of writing and he learned a bit more about why we are building together. He learned that his worldview is how he makes sense of his world and he learned that he is not the best judge and jury. Neither are you and neither am I.
Today, my new client, was challenged to think and he kinda liked it until he didn’t. And, he got some really cool homework. He’s going to watch the movie, The Matrix, and discover the worldview that the Directors want him to see.
Who knew that building buildings was an expression of the builders worldview. Who knew…
