Today, as I’m rereading a book about Bono and his band, I came across one of my favorite leadership thoughts and decided it would serve as a good reminder for the day. We’ve all got more noise than we want and we’ve all got our noses in somebody else’s noise. I hope this thought resonates with Y.O.U. and helps you cut through your din and clangor and get after your OPUS.
So,here’s Bono’s big idea…
“A good leader needs big scissors to get things moving. Actually, I think a great leader has to have a great ear for melody. By this, I mean clarity of ideas. What I think they might all have in common, the ones that I’ve met – if they’re any good – is an ability to see through the din and clangor of ideas and conversations and points of view, and hear the melody line, and realize: this is the thing we’ve got to do; this is more important than the others.”
Have you found your melody line?
Has your team?
Are you aligned?
Are you “all in?”
Are you disciplined in eliminating the noise?
Are you disciplined in keeping your nose in your own stuff?
Are you disciplined in keeping your teams noses focused in theirs?
Are you disciplined in using big scissors to get things going?
Tell me more, my friend.
Tell me more…
