Practice 38 and practice 2…

Today, in practice number two, I reminded a team of “why” we practice speaking and listening BTL style. Yesterday, in practice number thirty eight, I reminded another team of “why” we practice speaking and listening BTL style.Funny, huh…

The root reason why we practice speaking and listening like we do is rooted in human nature. All humans have a justice thread, we believe, running right down their middle. Naturally, we are over-tuned and very sensitive to ourselves and feel, very acutely, every tweak to our sense of justice. We get “sideways” with other humans at the drop of the hat and can’t understand why others seem to always “over-react” to our slightest missteps. “Doesn’t anybody have thick skin anymore,” most humans wonder to themselves.

Today, remember that your natural state is NOT the one you want. Naturally, remember, we all come into this world as self centered and other controlling. Visit a nursery, anywhere, and you will see example after example of this fact. We are naturally self centered and other controlling. Excellence requires that we build a second nature. This will not come naturally and will be acutely painful to build. This is the one you want, however. Excellence requires that we become CORE centered and self controlling.

Today, a team of five began to build this second nature and realize how hard this trip will be. Becoming a master connector will require 10,000 hours of practice not just sending CCD, but, even harder, listening with the tuneage of an animal being stalked. Yesterday, a team of twenty five, was reminded of the same. The enemy is the same for both teams…settling for good enough and, eventually deciding to simply STOP.

Where are you on the journey toward building your second nature?

Tell me more, my friend.
