Trinity…

Today Trinity learned she has the curse of knowledge. Knowledge, turns out, is a two sided coin.

Trinity learned this curse makes it hard for her to deliver feedback, at least the well received kind. She learned that providing context to her content is the way ’round said problemo. She learned the best way to provide context is to master the craft of telling stories. Good, rich, story laced with emotion. Trinity practiced telling a story to explain a couple lines in the BTL 8 playbook. Someday, Trinity will tell her story to deliver the kinda feedback a few want to receive. Someday, she will master this part of her craft. Someday way down the road with lots of deliberate, domain specific practice.

Today she was given the opportunity to get better because one of her builders believes she is worth the investment. What a great gift to give.

Trinity, however, will only actually get better when she extrapolates her learning into action; real, productive action. She is just like you and me. Everyday we are given the opportunity to learn. Given the gift,if you will. Few take advantage. Fewer still, extrapolate their learning into productive action. The only way we can ever get better is by practicing something we’re currently learning. New skills are only built this way. And, this kinda building requires courage and humility. Funny, huh…

What opportunity, today, did you have to get better? What, my friend, did you do with it? And, how are you pushing yourself to play with new skills before you’ve mastered ’em? What fears are holding you back? What part does your pride play?

Extrapolate your learning today. Get better, my friend.

Trinity got the chance to get better today. I’m betting she actually did. I know I did. Thanks Trinity and your team of 8. Thanks. Today you started me off with an amazing learning buffet. Dave gave me a bit more meat. Chilly gave even more my way. PJ provided something sweet and very visual. And, Krits, Moochichi, and Tay topped it off. Today was a learning buffet for me. Most are. Today, I chose to get better by taking advantage of the learning opportunities as they came my way.

And, as is often the case, most of today’s learning was an unintended consequence created by simply being ready when my builders arrived. Funny, huh…
