Where do normal, average, Americans express themselves at their best, I asked kmans candidate this afternoon. His face told me to re-phrase. Where do normal Americans perform their best work, I asked and awaited his “canned” response. He didn’t disappoint. Where they work, he replied. This is the most common response and far, far, far from the truth.
Most Americans and most humans for that matter, do their best work anywhere but where they labor for pay. Most express their best selves as some kinda couple, in some form of community, or in their charity of choice. Anywhere, in essence, where they work for free. Funny, huh.
Couples, communities, and charities get our best because they pull at our hearts. Companies can too. This is why we begin our work, at BTL, with the head of the company. This is why we begin by awakening the leader to their labor of love, their OPUS. And, this is why we practice with the team. We want the leader and the team to do their best work where they are; wherever they are.
This is the recipe for authoring a masterpiece in work and in life. Expressing your OPUS wherever Y.O.U. are. Think of it as Valentines day every day, everywhere. Talk about a romantic thought.
