Churp led today in the 3PP. His workout was really hard. Lots of burpees, push ups, pull ups, and planks. Nothing new here. Bunches of atomics, lunges, and squats too. It was really hard to follow. Leading, however, is much worse. All I had to do was watch Churp and attempt to do what he was doing. I couldn’t keep up with him on the burpees but at least he was counting for me. My brain didn’t have to think ahead to the next step.
Leading down here is no different than leading where you live and work. Leaders, real ones, always out work the team. Leaders lead reluctantly. Leaders understand it’s always easier to take a play off when you’re in the back. Leaders simply show us how its done regardless the position they’re playing. Do not fixate on getting the position at the top, instead fix your eyes on the front and show us how it’s done. We just might follow.
Today, Churp went to the front and modeled the way. It was hard. When I lead, however, it’s always harder. Of course that’s just harder for me…
