Everytime I meet a potential client, I begin with this question. The same question greets all participants in BTL practice one. Every interview starts with the same question. If there is a go to question that defines BTL this would be it – Why are you here?
U2’s lead man, Bono, had clarity in his late teens as he wrote his “why” behind the band in a letter to his father. ” God gives us our strength and a joy that does not depend on drink or drugs. This strength will, I believe, be the quality that will take us to the top of the music business. I hope our lives will be a testament to the people who follow us, and to the music business where never before have so many lost and sorrowful people gathered in one place pretending they’re having a good time. It is our ambition to make more than good music.” ccd by Bono.
Why BTL is here is rather simple and really hard. “We awaken, challenge, and together we transform a few individuals, teams, and leaders into ONE. ONE, distinct and deeply connected, that is BTL.”
We believe this is the melody line for all our work. We believe this is a worthy aim. We believe we will mostly fail and fall well short of our target. We believe the few glimpses and the echoes of excellence that we have the privilege to be part of will provide more than enough energy. We believe our work has the power to deeply change the communities where we work. We want to grow old, but not tired, with a few such systems. This is why we’re here and why we believe it matters.
Why are you here?
Why are we better because your business is here?
Why will we miss your community when it’s gone?
Why does your system need you?
Why, Why, Why…
