Today, a client called me for advice before he delivered some “truth telling” to one of his teammates with whom he is divided. I reminded him to use few words and to own his piece of this less than ideal partnership. And, I reminded him of this thought taken from the book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho.
“When you possess great treasures within you, and try to tell others of them, seldom are you believed.”
Own your piece and focus on the few. Over-rotate toward owning your piece whenever your feel the need to deliver some truth. Remember, you and I are over tuned to another’s piece in the problem and under tuned to our own. And, we invest too much time trying to change another that doesn’t want the great treasure chest of truth that we possess and so desperately want to give them.
Focus on the few. Own your piece…
