Churp strolled in casually as he always does, first. Jdub arrived next wearing his ear to ear grin by default. downer, hoodie up,greeted with his customary roar of “CHEEEESSSSTORRRRR!” Stud just nodded and got busy puttin on his shoes. Mr. Clean smiled and fist bumped his way back to his corner and immediately started to give me some kinda nonsense about my lack of verticality. sloLO slipped in next. He keeps coming earlier and earlier and earlier. He keeps showing up and my gosh is he getting stronger here and, more importantly, there. FM bounced in on his toes and complained he keeps hitting his head on our ceilings :). As we began to put our feet in the TRX, PJ arrived with just a few seconds to spare. PJ was all smiles too.
The timer was set for 68 minutes. I hit play and for the next hour and some change my brain slowly lost the ability to process. We started with a series of slow burners – exercises that forced our core to hold on for 90-120 seconds at a clip. Once we got going, the workout shifted to more speed work in the form of high impact interval training (HIIT). We finished by alternating box jumps with high holds on the TRX. My mind, I observed, turned more and more toward mush. Churp grabbed the reins as I was no longer modeling the way. FM pushed too. downer even led the way once we got through his nemisis – downers.
I would not have kept going this morning except for two things.
The more fatigued I became, the more I relied on the team and the timer to keep me tracking. Remember, most mistakes are made when fatigued. The recipe for remaining on the rails is, first, to rely on your teammates. Build a team better than you, my friend. You won’t trust a bunch of weak ones, will you? And, build a system that provides a framework for structure and order so you won’t have to think as much when you get fatigued. Team and timer, in this instance. Team and some kinda structure when you work. Team and some kinda structure in your life. Team and some kinda framework are required to keep us on the rails. Build both, my friend.
Look around you. Who you hanging with? Together, are you improving? Have you taken the time to build a framework that keeps you on track? At BTL, we believe your CORE, OPUS, and PoP are a framework for working and living toward your best. What do you believe, my friend? What do you believe?
Today, without team and timer, I would have come off the tracks. Team and timer kept me tracking. Thanks, PJ, Stud, FM, sloLO, Jdub, Mr. Clean, Churp, and downer. Thanks, team…

Love you guys. It’s true Chet. On my own…I am not even 1/2 as good. You guys push me. Good stuff.
Funny what the mind and body can reach as a team versus a bunch of individuals!!
